Batteries, bulbs, and other household hazardous waste go to that same Miramar facility, though those drop-offs run by appointment, so we batch them rather than make a special trip for one job. Everything else gets weighed in at a county transfer station, which separates recyclables before the rest goes to landfill. That sorting is why two loads that look the same size from the curb can price out differently.

Is this the same as the city's free junk pickup?

No. The City of San Diego offers a free bulky-item pickup twice a year, capped at six items, booked through Get It Done or 858-694-7000. You still have to haul everything to the curb yourself by a set date. We're not capped on items or size, we do the carrying, and we can usually get to you faster.

Do you handle yard waste and brush?

Yes, and it's one of our busiest jobs before fire season. If your load is mostly regular junk with a few of these mixed in, we'll still take the rest.

How far in advance do I need to book, or can I get same-day pickup?

Same-day pickup is common, but it depends on how many slots are left that day. A county this size fills up faster than a small town would. Call in the morning for the best odds. If you know your date ahead of time, booking a day or two out guarantees a specific window.

What happens to stuff that's still in good shape?

We pull aside furniture and appliances that are still usable before anything goes to a transfer station. Good pieces get routed toward donation instead of the landfill. It's one reason two similar-looking loads can price differently. Sorting happens on every job, not just the big ones.

Do stairs or a hard-to-reach property change the price?
